I was also searching the internet for summer classes for Griffin when I saw that there were Kendo summer classes for kids nearby. I never knew that there were Kendo Clubs in the Philippines. I thought Griffin would be interested in it because a Shinai or bamboo sword was used. He actually joined a Wu Shu club in school two years ago, and some of his club mates had a stick, I don't know what it's called in Wu Shu. He wanted one. I think I mentioned Kendo to him that time but I did not know that Kendo was being offered in the Philippines. The usual martial arts classes I see being offered are Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Aikido but not Kendo.
The Kendo summer classes are being offered by IGA Kendo Club Philippines. This is every Saturday or every Sunday of April depending on the venue you chose, either in Dasmarinas Village or City Club Alphaland. The class fee is PhP 2000.00 for four sessions not inclusive of the Shinai. You can rent the Shinai for PhP 1000.00 for four sessions or buy your own.
Griffin actually missed the first session because I only saw the ad after the first class. He started two Sundays ago, at first we just rented the Shinai because we did not know if Griffin would like it but right after the class, we decided to buy the Shinai because he enjoyed the class. He said he liked it even if it was tiring. He had his second class last Sunday and it looks like he's serious about it. His dad asked him if he wanted to continue the Kendo class even after the summer classes are over and he said yes.
Here's a shot from the class:
